Bioizer® News Release
June 2005 – Denver, Colorado – Bioizer Technologies, Inc., has announced the development of a new product line branded BIOIZER® that combines quantum photon lighting and photocatalytic oxidation to provide a brighter, energy-efficient fluorescent lights that eliminate airborne pollutants.
Bioier Technologies, Inc. is a privately held company formed by Robert C. Smallwood, a long-time innovator in the lighting industry. An expert in lighting ballast design, Smallwood was responsible for the development of the Saver Plus technology that is incorporated into the half-bridge ballast design found in nearly all fluorescent lighting systems today. In addition to BIOIZER, he has numerous lighting application patents including PureSpectrum, Decór Lite, MemoSwitch and the Master Lite Power Distribution System, a socket and ballast for gas discharge lamps. BIOIZER technology uses photocatalytic oxidation (PCO) to eliminate a wide range of chemical and biological contaminants. PCO takes place when UV light (sunlight) activates a semiconductor photocatalyst – Titanium dioxide (TiO2) - in the presence of oxygen and moisture. Activation of the catalyst generates hydroxyl radicals and superoxide ions, powerful oxidizing species that attack and break down organic compounds. By combining PCO with quantum photon lighting technology, which focuses energy on producing light not heat, Bioizer Technologies, Inc. has been able to develop a superior light source for residential and business uses. “The BIOIZER 25-watt lamp produces the equivalent of a 100-watt incandescent bulb using a fraction of the energy of traditional lighting,” explained Smallwood. “Over the life of a lamp, consumers and businesses will experience sufficient energy savings to literally pay for the lamps. When you add on the environmental benefits of these bulbs with respect to eliminating of airborne microorganisms, mold, mildew and fungi, germs, smoke, pollution, industrial solvents, and odors, we see tremendous market potential for our products.” Bioizer Technologies, Inc. is moving quickly to expand its PCO technology and superior ballasts into other areas of the lighting industry, including industrial and residential light fixtures and lens, self ballasted lamps, and air cleansing systems linked with a buildings heating and air conditioning systems.
